Collection: Artist: Brandalism
Brandalism is an art collective that specializes in critical street art and adbusting (the alteration or distortion of advertising messages). It was founded in the UK in 2012 and is known for its subversive, socially critical actions, which often address the excesses of consumer society, environmental destruction and the power of large corporations.
Brandalism is a group of anonymous artists who manipulate billboards and posters in public spaces to spread alternative messages. They often use well-known brand and advertising motifs to question the influence of advertising and its role in modern society. A central theme of their work is the critique of consumer culture, especially in the context of climate change and social inequality.
The group has installed their works in several major cities around the world, often as part of large, coordinated actions. A well-known example is their intervention during the 2015 Paris Climate Summit, where they replaced hundreds of billboards with critical messages against fossil fuels and the responsibility of big companies.
