Collection: Artist: Keith Haring (1958-1990)

Keith Haring (1958-1990) was an American artist and activist who became famous for his iconic, simple but powerful line drawings. He was one of the most important representatives of street art and pop art of the 1980s. Haring began his career in the subway stations of New York City, where he drew his characteristic figures - such as dancing people, beaming babies and barking dogs - on black advertising spaces with chalk. These figures, which were often designed with clean lines and without many details, quickly brought him attention.

Haring was heavily influenced by pop culture, graffiti, and the social issues of his time, including AIDS , racism, and social injustice. Many of his works contain political and social messages that touch on universal themes such as love, life, and death. His artwork is easily recognizable through the use of bright colors and recurring symbols.

Haring was also heavily involved in social projects, and in 1989 he founded the Keith Haring Foundation , which supports disadvantaged children and AIDS organizations. His best-known works include public murals, such as the Crack is Wack mural, as well as his collaborations with other artists and brands. Haring's influence on contemporary art and pop culture is still visible today, and his works are exhibited worldwide.
