In the fascinating world of BE@RBRICKs, authenticity is of crucial importance. Unfortunately, inferior copies are increasingly appearing, often offered on relevant websites at supposedly low prices. These counterfeits may seem tempting at first glance, but they offer neither the quality nor the long-term value of a genuine BE@RBRICK. This is particularly critical for collectors and enthusiasts, as only original figures offer the exceptional workmanship and exclusive design for which the manufacturer MEDICOM TOY is known.
We, Zaiser Art GbR as an art gallery, see it as our obligation to only offer authentic BE@RBRICKs. Our aim is to guarantee you not only a wide range of products, but also the highest level of security when making your purchase.
With this in mind, we would like to give you an overview of the most important security features.
The security hologram
One of the most reliable features to ensure the authenticity of a BE@RBRICK is the security hologram that is found on the packaging of many models. This hologram has been used by the manufacturer MEDICOM TOY since 2010 and serves as a seal of approval for the authenticity of the figure. It is not just a visual detail, but a crucial protection mechanism against counterfeiting, as it is manufactured using complex technologies that are difficult to imitate.

The hologram shows different effects depending on the viewing angle, including the bright colors and the unmistakable logo of BE@RBRICK and MEDICOM TOY as well as the characteristic spider monkey (@) and the outline of a bear's head. In the middle of the hologram there is a sequential number (e.g. A21110517) that indicates the production period and allows a rough chronological comparison for the respective model. This detail makes the hologram an even more reliable indicator of the authenticity of a BE@RBRICK.
However, there are exceptions: Some BE@RBRICK models, especially from special series such as the Happy Kuji lotteries or promotional series with a size of less than 100%, do not have such a hologram. These figures were deliberately distributed by MEDICOM TOY without a hologram through partner companies and are nevertheless authentic. Especially with such models, it is all the more important to check other security features such as the workmanship, the packaging and the retailer to ensure authenticity.
Hidden Tags
Another important feature for authenticating modern BE@RBRICKs are the so-called hidden tags. This technology was introduced by MEDICOM TOY in early 2022 and offers an innovative way to quickly and easily check the authenticity of a figure. Despite their name, hidden tags are not invisible, but are clearly visible on the right sole of the BE@RBRICK and on the packaging.
The hidden tags contain coded information that can be read using the specially developed "Hidden Tag" app on your smartphone. Simply taking a photo of the tag creates a connection to the MEDICOM TOY database, which provides you with electronic proof of authenticity. This proof confirms that your BE@RBRICK is an official and original product.

It is important to note, however, that this technology is only used on larger figures from 400% size and on some 200% models. Smaller figures, such as the popular 100% BE@RBRICKs or models with even smaller sizes, do not have hidden tags. For these figures, it remains crucial to pay attention to other authenticity features such as the security hologram, the packaging or the quality of workmanship.

DU-AL.IO
In addition to the hidden tags, MEDICOM TOY offers a modern way to check and manage the authenticity of your BE@RBRICKs with the DU-AL.IO platform. This technology was specially developed for BE@RBRICKs with NFC chips and complements the security concept with a user-friendly, digital solution.

Since mid-2022, selected BE@RBRICKs have been equipped with this technology. The relevant models have an NFC chip built into the sole of the figure's right foot. To use DU-AL.IO, you must first register on the official website https://medicomtoy.app.du-al.io/ . After registering, you can manage and authenticate your BE@RBRICKs in your personal account.
It's incredibly easy to use: hold your smartphone, which can read NFC chips, close to the right sole of the BE@RBRICK. The NFC chip is automatically recognized and scanned. You can then add the BE@RBRICK to your DU-AL.IO account. After registration, you will be shown a digital warranty card that confirms the authenticity of the figure. This card also contains important information such as the serial number, production details and, if applicable, other relevant data about the model.
DU-AL.IO is more than just an authentication tool. It allows you to create a digital archive of your collection, keep track of it and make resale easier. Potential buyers can access the digital warranty card via the platform and verify the authenticity of your BE@RBRICK. After resale, the warranty card can be transferred to the new owner.
